TWAS March 2
Hello All,
I hope that everyone is safe and sound as we endure/enjoy (depending on your perspective haha) yet another very wintery day!
It has been such an amazing week. I will let the following student quotes speak to our many activities, and have asked the children to expand on these memories with you when they get home. A couple of highlights to ask them about: the amazing trip to Dr. George to meet the monster artists (the cards that your children made are pictured below; so much work and love went into them); community building (what do communities need to have to make humans happy and how can you incorporate that knowledge into a creative urban community design); performing key magnetism concepts, non verbally, through drama.
A request: Our class is hoping to create a type of welcome wall in Cranston School. Our goal is to write hello in every language that is spoken in Calgary so that every family that enters our school feels welcome. We know it's a big goal but if anyone can make it happen it is this crew! If possible would you have some family conversations about all of the languages that you know to be spoken in Calgary; that would give us an excellent starting point.
One more request: As swimming is coming up in April, and we always struggle to cover supervision for the boys, it would be wonderful if some dads would consider joining us. We have one amazing dad who is able to cover 2 days so we are off to a good 'volunteer' start. If you don't have volunteer clearance we can get started on that right away. Just email me or call the office and we'll get going on it.
We are beginning drum fit next week so there is no artist of the week to share about.
A very real math problem that we worked on and figured out this week:
We need to make 68 thank you cards for our artists. There are 20 of us. How many cards does each of us have to make? There can be more than one correct answer.
Thank you so much volunteers who made our trip to Dr. George Stanley possible. It was an incredible experience that was all the more special because you were there!
Room 73 student TWAS quotations:
“We have been doing hockey in gym. It is hard on the scooters to try to score. I
did it though!” Chloe Ma
“We went to Dr. George Stanley and saw our Arteeeests. It was fun seeing our monsters. I
just really liked how they drew it. It
didn’t turn out how I thought it would be but they tried their best and they
were nice. One of my partners was twice
my size and I kept on thinking they were adults. They said I was funny.” Riley M.
“We started to do the yearbook pictures. I think that it is
going to be fun because last year was really fun. I like that we get to draw the back cover.”

the storyboard when you talk about the main idea.” Coco
