TWAS
Hello Everyone,
Happy Friday!
It sounds like the Halloween Howler was a great time; what a wonderful event the parent volunteers put together. The children love seeing their friends and friends' families in these types of social settings.
Our morning at school was jam packed today: we enjoyed a fantastic assembly, there was singing, reader's theatre and even some 'dancing.'We practiced singing in music, played some coordination games in gym, and worked to finish up our halloween art building.
This week felt like a very full work week, as the students are starting to push their skills a little further. We have begun paragraph writing, and working to connect ideas, while continuing to use descriptive language and remaining attentive to conventions. The children will be excited to show off their first writing projects next week during interviews. While the interview are not student led, the students are welcome to join you.
Likewise, math books are already beginning to fill with all kinds of problem solving and math reasoning. We have been working on increasing pattern rules and will be moving onto our number to 100 unit next week. Our math art wall is starting to fill with wonderful creativity and we are seeing more and more "outside of the box" thinking, which is fantastic.
The finishing touches are going up on the family trees, and the children have so enjoyed learning and talking about their family/name histories. Thank you so much for helping them with these fun discoveries.
As you are all very much aware, next week is halloween. The students are invited to wear their costumes all day Tuesday (no weapons or masks, or excessive gore). We will be following our usual schedule in the morning and then will enjoy a halloween celebration in the afternoon.
There has been a lot of excitement, and very tired children, this week. I am thinking that next week will be a lot more of the same. We have been revisiting calming strategies, and remembering that our most important job is to show kindness to each other, even when we're feeling stressed or excited. We will continue with those conversations Monday morning in preparation for a very exciting week ahead!
Thank you as always for all of your support with your little ones.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. McArthur
