TWAS February 14
Happy Valentine's Day Everyone,
We hope that you enjoyed the valentine's 'heart' projects. What an excellent sewing group we have in here! I saw so many examples of perseverance, independence and then mastery as the children learned to thread and knot their own needles. Excellent work 73 :)
We had a wonderful day today. They so enjoyed receiving all of the very thoughtful Valentine's (so did I) and also created some beautiful reflective art to go with their loving thoughts. Ask them about the things that "fill their hearts with love."
We've also been working on our narrative writing, beginning with a first, next, then plot map. We should be starting to put all of these bits together when we return next week.
This group continues to astound with their super stellar math problem solving skills. Have a look at this one that they managed to break down and work out (wow!):
The community maps are looking fantastic. Using a Cranston community map/grid they created their own artistic representation of Cranston:

This summer I went on a really fun camping holiday. I travelled to a lot of different places in three different provinces. On Monday and Tuesday I was in B.C.. On Wednesday I was in Alberta. I spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Saskatchewan. What country was I camping in? How many hours did I spend in each province?
EXTRA CHALLENGE: How many hours did I spend camping?

Of course we also had a spectacular Monday afternoon out enjoying Cranston winter/olympic festival/sports day!
I'll leave you with Ms. Thomas's artist of the week and warm wishes for a wonderful break. See you soon!
Mrs. M
Artist of the Week
This week’s artist is iconic for the legacy she left on Canadiana music with her blended folk/rock/jazz/pop style. Joni Mitchell got her start in the early 60s by working her way through Western Canada as a busker and playing in a variety of local venues.
