TWAS February 23rd

Hello Everyone,

We hope you have had a wonderful week. Please take note of a couple of dates to remember and Ms. Thomas's artist of the week.  As for all other news, I have left it to the children to tell you about our busy days; please enjoy the quotes below.  Following the quotations I have also added the 'bus' math problem that was referred to in a couple of quotes and some of our most recent and very beautiful art.

Dates for the calendar:

Family Movie Night March 1st.

Community walk to Dr. George Stanley School Thursday March 1st:  The artists have finished our monster depictions and we have been invited to Dr. George to view the pieces this coming Thursday at 10:40.  We would love for you to join us;  the plan is to be heading out the door at 10:20.  We will be there for about half an hour.  If you are able to come (siblings are welcome) please send me an email and I will begin to organize as per volunteers.

Genre of the Week

Disco:

In the week leading up to our “Drum Fit” unit, we will be focusing on one of the most infamous dance genres. Whether you like it or not, Disco had a major influence on dance. Pulling from the genres of motown and funk, disco was a marginalized genre in the early 70s that eventually exploded into the mainstream.
73 TWAS Quotes:

“A lot of people got plaques on the Circle of Courage.”  Xander C.

Bus math problem (this is an extra challenging question that we worked through as a group; everyone worked very hard at it, demonstrated amazing perseverance and worked together to come up with the answer.):

Mathisawesome School wants to go on a field trip to math land.  There are 4 classes at Mathisawesome School. Each class has 22 children and there are also 10 adults going. They need to order busses for the trip. One bus can carry 40 people. How many busses should the school order?

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mrs. McArthur
