TWAS May 11
Hello Everyone,
It looks like it's going to be a beautiful weekend; enjoy every second!
It's been a great week with lots happening in 73. Everyone worked so hard on a very special project that I know will be enjoyed on Sunday. Have a kleenex box at the ready!
Here are some snippets from this week's learning:
Our math focus has been geometry and friendly numbers. Challenge your little one to make the following equation 'friendly' and answer it: 28 + 39 = ? We also created patterns using object and shape attributes. There were some very creative designs.
This week in language arts we did a lot of writing, enjoyed our new novel My Father's Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett, and focused on writing strong conclusions.
We were learning about and studying hearing and the needs of plants and animals this week. The projects that go with are looking amazing. The children pulled a lot of information out of the lessons, and are taking great care in their presentations of their learning.
Our 3-D butterfly art turned out beautifully (the students designed the bulletin):
We also enjoyed a beautiful Music Monday Assembly, brilliant theatre production, and a super fun club Friday.
As always, time was hard to come by so we weren't able to squeeze quotes in today but please enjoy the TWAS letters that went home in the communication folders.
I'll leave you with Ms. Thomas's artist of the week post, and wish you all a spectacular Mother's Day weekend!

Artist of the Week
Ella Fitzgerald
This week we will be talking about the influential Queen of Jazz. By taking a look at Ella Fitzgerald’s impact on jazz music, we will be discussing the art of improvisation and scat singing. We will also explore some of her famous partnerships, including Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.
