Hello Everyone, We hope you have had a wonderful week. Please take note of a couple of dates to remember and Ms. Thomas's artist of the week.  As for all other news, I have left it to the children to tell you about our busy days; please enjoy the quotes below.  Following the quotations I have also added the 'bus' math problem that was referred to in a couple of quotes and some of our most recent and very beautiful art. Dates for the calendar:  Family Movie Night March 1st. Community walk to Dr. George Stanley School Thursday March 1st:   The artists have finished our monster depictions and we have been invited to Dr. George to view the pieces this coming Thursday at 10:40.  We would love for you to join us;  the plan is to be heading out the door at 10:20.  We will be there for about half an hour.  If you are able to come (siblings are welcome) please send me an email and I will begin to organize as per volunteers.   February-21-18 3:40 PM Genre of t

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone, We hope that you enjoyed the valentine's 'heart' projects. What an excellent sewing group we have in here! I saw so many examples of perseverance, independence and then mastery as the children learned to thread and knot their own needles.  Excellent work 73 :) We had a wonderful day today.  They so enjoyed receiving all of the very thoughtful Valentine's (so did I) and also created some beautiful reflective art to go with their loving thoughts.  Ask them about the things that "fill their hearts with love." We've also been working on our narrative writing, beginning with a first, next, then plot map.  We should be starting to put all of these bits together when we return next week. This group continues to astound with their super stellar math problem solving skills.  Have a look at this one that they managed to break down and work out (wow!): This summer I went on a really fun camping holiday.   I travelled to

Hello Everyone, I hope you've all had a good week :) Probably most important on the list is that this Monday is winter sports day so please send your children to school with snow-pants/boots mittens and toques as we'll be outside all afternoon.  Also, swimming dates are in:    April 16 - 20 10:45 - 11:30. The students worked very hard on their artifact writing over the last few days: what they see, think, and wonder when they look at belonging and what that 'seeing, thinking and wondering' teaches us about ourselves.  If you have time next week pop in and have a look at the projects.  The writing and sketches are on our bulletin outside of the classroom, and they are definitely worth checking out.  Great work 73 :) This week we did quite a bit of work with difference and 2 digit numbers.  If you have a deck of cards at home have your little one show you the four card flip game, making greatest and least with the four cards and then, if comfortable, taking on t

Hello Team 73, I hope you all have managed to stay warm during this very cold week.  On a warmer note we learned today, from Balzac Billy, that it will be an early spring, which was music to our collective ears in room 73 :) It has been a wonderful week.  Our cookie baking was a wonderful success (thank you thank you thank you volunteers) that was very much appreciated by our field trip hosts.  They put out a special thank you to Cranston school with a picture of our baking and card, on their school facebook page.  The field trip itself was incredible.  It was not easy getting those little ones to leave and they have been begging to go back.  While it was a special treat to be invited (there are only a few classes a year that are able to go) we are hoping to do some work with Niitsitapi in some other ways . . . more on that to come. Your children are working on some reflective slides about their visit.  They can show you what they have started on Google Slides, and should be abl
