TWAS May 25

Hello 73 Families, I hope all of you are enjoying the week. It has truly been beautiful here for so many reasons!  Below are a couple of messages from Ms. Thomas and one about our upcoming field trip (this is the last volunteer call — I  promise!!!) The rest, I will leave to the children: Field Trip: Telus Spark, June 6th.  The cost will be $17.00.  Form will be going home Monday. Artist of the Week: The Tragically Hip After much anticipation, we finally have a full week with which we can explore this great Canadian band. The Tragically Hip have left a major impact on the Canadian music scene with their devoted fan base and ability to incorporate Canadian themes in their music.  Talent Show:  Hello! If your child is wishing to participate in the Friday Music Class Talent Shows, Ms. Thomas will be starting auditions next week. Students from our class are invited to audition on  Wednesday  at lunch time. They are expected to come prepared to share a 90 second (maxim

Hello Everyone, I hope all of your little ones are feeling rested from a very cold, wet and busy day at the zoo. I can't thank our parent volunteers enough for being so amazing!  It really was a great day because of all of you, despite the "weather" challenges :) It is so unfortunate that the field trip was on the same day as the volunteer appreciation; we will definitely be having our own appreciation as the support you have all shown, in so many different ways, has been incredible.  I'm thinking a year end family picnic would be wonderful . . . more to come on that . . . We do have one last field trip (to Telus Spark) planned for June 6th so if you are interested in joining us please let me know and I will put you on the volunteer list. Just a note about busses for next year:  If you think that your child might be taking the bus, you must register after May 22 and before June 11th (you do not have to pay at this time).  The my CBE account will be unaccessible

Hello Everyone, It looks like it's going to be a beautiful weekend; enjoy every second! It's been a great week with lots happening in 73.  Everyone worked so hard on a very special project that I know will be enjoyed on Sunday.  Have a kleenex box at the ready! Here are some snippets from this week's learning: Our math focus has been geometry and friendly numbers.  Challenge your little one to make the following equation 'friendly' and answer it:  28 + 39 = ?  We also created patterns using object and shape attributes.  There were some very creative designs. This week in language arts we did a lot of writing, enjoyed our new novel My Father's Dragon by  Ruth Stiles Gannett,  and focused on writing strong conclusions.  We were learning about and studying hearing and the needs of plants and animals this week.  The projects that go with are looking amazing.  The children pulled a lot of information out of the lessons, and are taking great care in their

Hello All, I hope you are all settling into your spring routines well.  I know that a lot of your little ones have been very busy with activity wind ups, and new spring sport start ups.  It's been a very fun and active week here at Cranston.  Please enjoy this week's quotes and the TWAS letters that went home today.  I've included some info about Music Monday's assembly, and a math problem from this week is below the quotes. Music Monday:  This Monday, May 7th, the Grades 1/2 and Grade 3 choirs will be performing for our Music Monday assembly. If your child is in choir, please feel free to join us for the celebration at 10:30.  “We did Paper mache for a special surprise project; in gym we did racquets.”   Kyron “We finished butterfly art and then Mrs. McArthur made a giant butterfly out of our art.” Tate “At music a rapper came; his name is Zack and he rapped some songs for us.”   Camilla “In music we learned how to play a new g

Music Monday Assembly

A message from Ms. Thomas as per: Hello Families: This Monday, May 7th, the Grades 1/2 and Grade 3 choirs will be performing for our Music Monday assembly. If your child is in choir, please feel free to join us for the celebration at 10:30.  In addition, if your child is in the Grade 3 choir, they have been tasked with making a tinfoil space helmet. If you could please remind them to bring it to school before the end of this week, that would be wonderful. Thank you!
