TWAS April 6th

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone's settling back into routine after that much needed Spring Break.  The children have adjusted back into their routines beautifully.  We have a lot of exciting explorations happening right now, which everyone is very excited to share at conferences later this month (save the date: April 19, 20).

Please enjoy this week's students quotes and don't hesitate to email or stop in if you'd like a little more information about our learning:

“This week at school we did poetry.  We used sight by looking at a candle.  We also did smell with a cinnamon stick, lotion, candle, vanilla, and hand sanitizer. Poetry is fun. I think my poem was good.“  Jericho

“Well we missed library because we were doing our spring pictures. Our spring pictures went super good!!” Zurie

“In poetry we did sight about a candle.  We wrote stuff about what the candle reminded you of.  It wasn’t very easy for me.  Smell was easier for me.”  Tate

“This week in school we are doing skipping.  In skipping we were learning how to do different types of jumping and we were doing jumps with groups” Emily

“We did all sorts of little twists and backwards and running around while skipping.”  Brinn

“In poetry there was a battery candle in front of us.  I saw it and it made me think of fire.”  Lincoln

“The best treasure is friendship.”  Xander

“We did some three minute drills in math.  I feel really good about my drills.”  Malika

“We did science.  In science we saw steam from a kettle, and watched Mrs. McArthur put a spoon over the steam that turned the steam back into water. “  Riley

“This week Ms. Patton came over to room 73 to start working with us on our community scripts we are going to make.” Chloe Ma

“We did art and it was balloons.  We were learning how to show distance in a picture.”  Kyron

“This week we worked on our monster stories.  I used my imagination and it was fun.  We also did poetry.  Poetry can rhyme sometimes but it doesn’t have to.  I think I am kind of good at it.”  Coco

“This week at school we had a random dance party and the song was by The Spice Girls.” Camillla

“This week in school we learned what persuasive writing is and we did a geometry game where we tried to find our shape family by asking questions about attributes.  We couldn’t say what the shape was.”  Caeden

“We did a science experiment to see how long it would take ice to melt.  I guessed 15 minutes and it took 15 minutes.”  Noah

“We had fun at science and all kinds of stuff that we did at school. We also drew sunflowers too!”  Carson

“I liked poetry this week.  I liked it because I wrote about Mt. Everest.” Maksim

“We did a science experiment called Ice Ice Baby.  You would see how long it would take an ice cube to melt in your hand.  I guessed that it would take 10 minutes and it took 10 minutes.”  James

“Gym was good because we got to play fun games like tag.  We also got to use skipping ropes.” Golden

 Artist of the Week

Elton John:

This week we will be focusing on the pop rock icon who used his phenomenal piano skills to revolutionize the “rock ballad”.  (Ms. Thomas)

I should be able to get this week's art up on the blog on Tuesday when we get those finishing touches done.

Thanks for all of your support; have a wonderful weekend,

Mrs. McArthur
